@Rct3andCP Six Flags wouldn't of just shut it down, they put so much money into it, that if they just shut it down, Six Flags would've filed an official bankruptcy, and closed, instead, they did go bankrupt, but go out of it. Six Flags would've kept it open if they could, but because of the competition in the area taking away attendance, they needed to sell it. Cedar Fair bought the park to get rid of competition, and then use it against Kings Island, which when bought, CF had no use for GL...

@mdice42 I agree with you, I remember back when Sea World was just across the lake and the place was packed with thrill seekers. As kids we always went to Geauga Lake because it was closer and less expensive than Cedar Point for an entire family to enjoy a day together. I didn't know that that video was shot just prior to the park closing and would explain why it wasn't as full as I remember it being as a kid. RIP Geauga Lake and thanks for the memories.

@dave18469 Do you realize that this is right before the park closed? Many attractions were already moved or closed during the filming. Some of the best roller coasters the park had to offer were already removed. I've been to this park several times and it was nothing like the film indicates. It is much like seeing a person on their death bed. Your missing them at their most exciting, lively points of their life.

No wonder Geauga Lake closed, there was hardly anyone there and the ones that were seemed to have more fun trying to throw an empty bottle of water into a trash container.
