God! Geauga Lake was such an amazing family park! It was never meant to be a hot spot for thrill seekers! If they wanted that then why not drive up to Cedar Point about 1.5 hours away? I went to Geauga Lake every year since I was two years old. I went 2 or 3 times the year it closed to say my final goodbyes to all the memories. I hate you Six Flags for ruining this park! Cedar Fair was only trying to fix it.

@travelfreak89 X-Flight was relocated to Kings Island in Cincinnati, Ohio. It's been re-painted and re-named Firehawk.

In Panama City, (now a growing hub beyond a spring break hotspot), have decided how foolish they were and have been building a smaller miracle strip on their new Pier Park out door mall. What rides and attractions that did not sell off were salvaged and have been very successful. Now after 8 years, it has been announced that the Starliner will be returning home for a whole new generation to enjoy.

However, in a strange twist of fate their Roller coaster, the Starliner, has lasted longer than the park itself. Designed by John Allen of the Philadelphia Tobaggan Company in 1963, it was the oldest rollercoaster in the state of Florida, even beating out Space Mountain in Disney World by a whole ten years. The Starliner was sold to Cypress Gardens in Florida as a way of keeping history and their attendance up. However, due to the bankruptcyof the park The Starliner once again faced trouble.

I know how you all must feel about this park, I lived in panama City Beach for a while, and they had a park called Miracle Strip Amusement Park. Nowhere near as big as Geauga Lake, with only one roller coaster and a few other, but very interesting side attractions, it would not have compared. It was open for 41 years though, from the sixties through the 2000's, finally closing in September of 2004. Most of the main attractions were sold to other places or disappeared.

everytime I go by the park, I nearly cry. That park was my very first job, and it's so sad.

It was good for Cedar Fair to have Geauga Lake...Six Flags bought the park for competition, and expanded the park in a good way, though it was too fast. If they added coasters over the years, it would still be open under Six Flags I bet. Cedar Fair boguht it to knock the competition out, and when Cedar Fair bought Paramount, Kings Island was a bigger and better park. Geauga Lake was only used for competition sadly....

@mccormackxl200 I know. How sad would that be? But who knows when another theme park is gonna take it over.

People keep blaming Cedar Fair for the ultimate downfall of this park. They wanted to keep it open, but it wasn't worth the time and money. Six Flags had brought the park to its knees, and there just wasn't much they could have done to save it.Geauga Lake was the pet.Six Flags was the sickness. So Cedar Fair put it to sleep.
