Disney Roller Coaster To Be Made Safer

Officials at Walt Disney World said Thursday they were taking action following a deadly accident involving a roller coaster at Disney's Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Fla. An employee got hit by a car on the Primeval Whirl roller coaster, then fell and hit her head. She died a few days later.

According to Disney spokeswoman Kim Prunty, the entry and exit areas of Primeval Whirl will be changed, with sensor mats which will be installed in the restricted area that will stop the ride once they are stepped on. Also the ride platform will be extended and bold stripes will be placed in the load and unload zones.

Primeval Whirl is a ride at Disney's Animal Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort. Is spinning roller coaster and is part of Chester and Hester's Dino-Rama, which at its time is part of Dinoland USA. It fits in the category of “Mild but Wild Thrills” of the roller coaster. Primeval Whirl has cars that spin in circles while on tracks and has seat for 4 riders.
